# DTF or screen printing — which is better?

DTF avoids separate screens for each colour and can suit detailed or personalised designs; screen printing has a different setup and unit-cost structure. ### Compare the same order, not two starting prices

Use the same specification when requesting quotes for both methods: garment type and fabric composition, garment colour, quantity by size, artwork dimensions and each print position. State whether every item uses one design or whether names, numbers or graphics change. Ask who supplies the garments and whether a DTF quote covers transfers only or application to the items as well.

### Check the design and the garment together

- Provide the original artwork where available. Identify transparent backgrounds, small text and fine details that must remain legible.
- Mark the intended print positions and dimensions. A chest logo and a large back design are separate production requirements.
- Ask how each method will reproduce important colours and which details may need adjustment. Do not select a method from an on-screen mockup alone.
- Discuss a suitable sample on the intended fabric, its feel and the agreed care instructions before approving a sensitive or unfamiliar combination.

### Read the quotation before choosing

Compare garment supply, artwork preparation, print setup, printing or transfer application, the number of positions and delivery on the same basis. For personalised items, provide the quantity of every version. If you expect repeat orders, ask what needs checking or preparing again. Keep design approval, production and receipt dates separate; the available schedule depends on the confirmed specification.

Choose after the actual fabric, appearance and complete order cost have been reviewed. If the two quotations use different garments, artwork sizes or finishing, first ask for matching specifications.
