# Post-Press Processing

Lamination, foil stamping, die-cut, binding, UV coating

Post-press work should be planned before printing when folds, holes, a spine or a foil layer affect the artwork. If sheets are already printed, send their dimensions, stock, quantity and photos of both sides. Identify the required cutting, folding, binding and finishing sequence; trimming first can remove the space needed for a later operation.

## Finishing Types

Compare what each finish does; confirm compatibility with your paper and availability before ordering.

### Lamination (Matte / Gloss)

Coating printed material with plastic film — matte or gloss effect. Protects print, creates a premium look.

### Die Cutting

Contour cutting for stickers, labels or cards. Fine details, trim allowance and material compatibility are checked with the artwork.

### Folding / Creasing

Preparing fold lines for booklets, flyers and greeting cards. Creasing reduces the risk of cracking; test the result on the selected paper and finish.

### Binding

Staples for thin publications; adhesive binding for a continuous spine; spiral or Wire-O for easy page turning. The choice depends on page count and paper.

### Embossing / Debossing

Raised or recessed logo or text — Blind Emboss or Deboss. Makes business cards and covers stand out.

### Foil Stamping

Gold, silver, rose gold, blue and other foil colors. Hot foil or digital — brilliant effect.

### Selective UV Coating

UV coating on selected areas only — logo, image or element. Creates contrast between matte background and gloss element.

### Contour / Laser Cutting

Contour processing from approved artwork. Confirm the method, dimensions and suitability of the material before ordering.

### Serial Numbering

Sequential number printing — tickets, vouchers, certificates. Unique ID on every copy.

## Why Craftarea?

Binding depends on the number of sheets, paper thickness, cover and how the publication will be used. For material already printed, send a sample or photos and dimensions; confirm the available margins and finishing method before ordering.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Matte or gloss lamination — which is better?+

Matte surfaces reflect less light; gloss creates a more noticeable reflection and colour effect. Confirm availability of Soft-Touch or other textures. Mention writing and QR-scanning requirements and check them on a sample.

What foil colors are available?+

Specify the desired colour and provide a separate vector layer for foil. The foil colour, process and compatibility with the paper are confirmed before ordering; an on-screen colour cannot replace a physical sample.

Wire-O spiral vs regular spiral — what's the difference?+

Wire-O uses double wire loops; a regular spiral winds continuously through the holes. Both require room for the holes and unobstructed page turning. Confirm the material, diameter and availability for the thickness of your publication.

How long does post-press processing take?+

Timing depends on material, quantity, artwork readiness and the production schedule. Share your required date; express availability and the handover date are confirmed before ordering.

Which binding should I choose for a book or catalogue?+

Staples can suit thin publications and require the appropriate page arrangement. Adhesive binding creates a continuous spine whose width depends on paper and page count. Spiral and Wire-O can suit working documents that are opened frequently. Confirm the available method, page-count limits and cover requirements before ordering.

Which files and details should I prepare?+

Send interior and cover PDFs, finished dimensions, page count, quantity, preferred paper and binding type. Prepare the cover spine, bleed and binding margins to the agreed specifications. If the sheets are already printed, send their dimensions, thickness and photos.
