# UV printing on wood

## Overview

Wood grain and surface finish influence the look of a UV print. Bare wood, plywood and a varnished item may need different preparation, and a white layer can change how much of the grain remains visible. Decide whether the material texture is part of the design before approving the artwork.

## What to check before approval

- Identify the wood or board type, coating and surface flatness.
- Mark where the grain should remain visible beneath or around the print.
- Describe the item’s handling and indoor or outdoor use.

## Prepare the production enquiry

Send Craftarea the wooden item or specification, print dimensions and quantity. Compare a sample with the planned layers and confirm any finishing or mounting work needed for the completed product.
