Kraft Bags With Your Logo
Short answer
Kraft bags are made from natural brown recycled paper and suit eco, handmade and craft brands. The logo is normally applied in a single dark colour — white and light colours do not work on kraft with CMYK printing.
A kraft bag is the case where the packaging itself tells the brand's story — natural brown and visible fibres read directly as eco, handmade and natural. That is why it is most in demand in cafes, handmade goods shops, florists and eco cosmetics brands. Kraft does carry one clear technical constraint you need to know before planning a logo: how colour behaves. This page explains exactly that.

How colour behaves on kraft
The brown kraft background mixes into every printed colour. Light colours go flat, blue shifts towards green, and white does not print at all — CMYK has no white ink, and white is simply the paper's own colour. That is why dark, single-colour printing gives the best result on kraft bags: black, deep brown, forest green or burgundy. If the brand logo is light or multi-coloured there are two routes — use a single-colour version of the logo, or print a white base beneath it, which is technically harder and more expensive.
- Light colours go flat
- White does not print in CMYK
- Best: black or dark single-colour printing
- Light logo — needs a monochrome version
Handles and the eco impression
The most consistent choice for a kraft bag is a twisted paper handle — made from the same material, it keeps the bag entirely paper and reinforces eco positioning. Rope handles are denser and more durable, so better for heavy contents, though they are often synthetic, which weakens the eco message. If full recyclability matters to the brand, settle this detail in advance — handle material is often the one element that keeps a bag from being entirely paper.
Lamination: eco or durability
Lamination on a kraft bag is technically possible, but it covers exactly the natural texture kraft is chosen for — a laminated kraft bag ends up resembling ordinary coated paper and the eco message is lost. Plastic lamination also reduces recyclability, which directly contradicts an eco brand's position. So we normally leave kraft bags unlaminated. If durability is critical, choosing heavier paper is better than adding lamination.
Printing on kraft — what works
| Element | On kraft | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Black logo | Crisp | Ideal choice |
| White element | Does not print | Redesign or add a white base |
| Light colours | Go flat | Use a dark palette |
| Photography | Muddy, warm | Not recommended |
| Full background | Possible, expensive | Better to keep the natural field |
| Lamination | Covers the texture | Usually skipped |
