A single-sided card can carry the essential contact details. A reverse side can accommodate another language, an address or a QR code. Adding information should not force the smallest text below a comfortably readable size.

Choose stock for your budget

Print PDF, bleed and file checks

Prepare the print PDF at the agreed finished size. A background reaching the edge needs to extend beyond the trim line by the agreed bleed; keep text and QR codes inside the safe area. Bleed outside the cut and clearance inside it serve different purposes.

Assess photographs at their final printed size; image-resolution rules do not apply to vector logos and text in the same way. Agree font embedding or outlining, colour profiles and special-finish layers with the file recipient. Converting RGB to CMYK alone does not guarantee a colour match.

Check missing images, substituted fonts and unwanted text wrapping.
Review the orientation of the front and reverse together.
Identify foil and spot-varnish areas clearly; minimum detail depends on the actual process.

Keep a quiet zone at least four modules wide around a conventional QR code. A module is a small square in the code, so this is not a fixed millimetre measurement. Data density, contrast, material, printing and reflective finishes affect scanning together; test the final size with several phones.
