Short answer
Specify finished dimensions, which corners are rounded and the intended radius. Check the artwork against the actual cutting contour: a rectangular safe area does not automatically account for a rounded corner. Available radii depend on the material and cutting method, not a universal 3 mm standard.
Corner shape is part of the design, not merely an operation added after approval. A nearby logo, border or QR code may need to move inward. Include that change in the approved artwork so the finished shape does not remove part of an important element.

Specify radius and individual corners
“Rounded” does not say whether all four corners or two diagonal corners change. Mark the selected corners using consistent front/back orientation. Compare candidate radii with a life-size paper model. Whether special tooling is required depends on the cutting method, so do not assume every custom shape needs the same die.
Protect borders, text and QR margins
Show the cut line in the working design and agree how it should be supplied in production files. Keep important content inside the contour, checking diagonal clearance near corners. Preserve the QR clear margin after cutting. A thin outer border makes small variations more visible and deserves a careful sample review.
Material and holder checks
Rounding does not increase the outer width and height, but holder fit still depends on actual dimensions and thickness. Edge results can differ between laminated paper and plastic. Choosing rounded corners does not automatically establish a longer life or reduced wear.
