Wall graphics depend on the paint, texture and condition of the installation surface. A smooth painted wall and textured masonry should not be treated as the same application. Plan the artwork around corners, switches and furniture, and agree a suitability check before a large graphic is produced.

What to check before approval

• Provide wall dimensions and clear photos of texture and obstructions.
• Identify the paint or coating and any recently finished areas.
• Discuss a test application and the desired future removal conditions.

Approve the panel and obstacle layout

For a large wall image, number the panels in installation order and mark a common alignment reference. Show corners, sockets, skirting and fixed furniture on the same plan. Place important faces and lettering away from panel joins or obstacles before approving the cutting layout.

Separate the finished visible dimensions from any trimming allowance agreed with the installer. If the wall has several paint finishes or repaired areas, identify them individually rather than assuming one surface check represents the whole wall.
