What size is a standard business card?
In Georgia the de-facto standard is 90x50 mm — it fits every wallet, card holder and purse. The European standard is 85x55 mm and we print that too when a client specifically needs it. The American format, 89x51 mm, is practically identical to the Georgian one. Artwork should be prepared with 2 mm bleed on each side, giving a 94x54 mm full canvas, and important text must sit at least 3 mm inside the trim edge — a ±0.5 mm cutting deviation is normal.

Which stock should you choose?
Business card stock should never be thinner than 300 gsm — a thin card bends in the hand and reads as cheap. The most common choices are 300 and 350 gsm coated stock in matte or gloss. Kraft (brown, recycled) stock suits handmade and eco brands, while linen-textured stock suits legal, consulting and premium segments. Adding lamination or foil increases the final thickness further, so the card feels denser in the hand.

What finishing options exist after printing?
Post-press finishing is the stage where an ordinary card becomes a premium one. Matte lamination gives a velvety, non-reflective surface that does not hold fingerprints; gloss lamination boosts colour and protects against moisture. Soft-touch (velvet) lamination delivers the most expensive tactile impression — the surface almost grips the fingers. Spot UV varnish adds shine to just the logo or a chosen element on a matte background, and foiling gives a metallic gold or silver shimmer.

Price depends on four factors: run length, stock type and weight, single- or double-sided printing, and post-press finishing. Unit price falls as the run grows, because setup costs (preflight, cutting) spread across the quantity — the gap between the unit price at 100 and at 1000 pieces is significant.
