Sheet metal cut to size
Short answer
Craftarea in Tbilisi cuts sheet-metal shapes from a supplied drawing or an agreed specification. Identify the metal grade, sheet thickness and quantity of each part, then mark holes, visible edges and any fitting requirements. Cutting, edge finishing and later assembly are separate parts of the brief and should be confirmed in the quote.
Sheet metal cut to size is available through Craftarea in Tbilisi. This is not a metal supply shop selling standard sheet sizes — we take a sheet you already own or one we source for you and cut it into a finished part: a rectangle, a circle, a complex contour, or several parts nested on one sheet. It suits anyone who already has an exact dimension or sketch but doesn't want to cut it with an angle grinder or a hand saw. We cut four metals — mild steel, stainless, aluminium and copper/brass — with cutting feasibility confirmed for the alloy and drawing. Timing is agreed after the project review. Send the metal grade, thickness, drawing, finishing and quantity, required date and collection or delivery location.

What is "sheet metal cut to size" and how is it different from a metal supplier?
Metal suppliers sell standard-format sheets — 1000×2000mm or 1250×2500mm — and the cutting is your problem. Our service works the other way round: you tell us the final dimension or send a sketch, and we cut exactly that outline, whether it's a simple rectangle or a complex shape. No angle grinder, no hand saw, no marking out by hand. We work from a digital file or precise measurements, so the hundredth part comes out the same as the first.
Which metals and what thickness can be cut as sheet?
The ceiling is set by how reflective and dense the metal is — aluminium and copper reflect much of the beam, so they are harder to cut thick than steel. Thicker or non-standard sheet goes to vetted partner workshops; that is not work done on our own machine, and we say so before quoting. The full per-alloy thickness table lives on its own page. Specify the required tolerance in the drawing; achievable tolerance and edge finishing are confirmed for the material, thickness and geometry.
- Mild/carbon steel — up to 10mm
- Stainless steel / inox — up to 6mm
- Aluminium — up to 5mm
- Copper/brass: thickness confirmed for the alloy and surface
Should I bring my own sheet or order material from you?
Both work. If you already have a sheet, bring it in or arrange delivery to us — you then pay for the cutting work only, with no material charge. If you don't have material, we source the sheet in the thickness and alloy you need and quote material plus cutting as one price. Sourcing through us is usually faster for small and mid-size orders since you skip finding a supplier; bringing your own is cheaper when you have stock left from another project.
What tolerance do you hold, and what sheet sizes do you work with?
The manufacturable minimum hole diameter depends on the metal grade, thickness, geometry and particular equipment. Specify the required size in the drawing; the team confirms feasibility after reviewing the file. Trade sheet comes in 1000×2000mm or 1250×2500mm, and we cut smaller parts down from those; the maximum size we can process in one pass is confirmed when we quote. Multiple parts can be nested on a single sheet, which cuts material waste on larger runs. The cut edge darkens slightly from heat, most visibly on mild steel, and deburring is available on request. Specify the required tolerance in the drawing; achievable tolerance and edge finishing are confirmed for the material, thickness and geometry.
How is sheet metal cutting price calculated?
Price is built from three variables: total cutting length — a more complex outline costs more; material type and thickness; and quantity — the more pieces, the lower the per-unit price, because setup cost spreads across the run. If you supply your own sheet, the material component drops out entirely. Starting ranges by material and the full formula are published on the dedicated pricing page. Timing is agreed after the project review. Send the metal grade, thickness, drawing, finishing and quantity, required date and collection or delivery location.
Sheet metal cutting specification by material (CNC fiber laser, Craftarea)
| Material | Max thickness | Min hole ⌀ | Tolerance | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mild/carbon steel | Up to 10mm | Confirmed for the drawing and material | Tolerance by specification | Structural parts, workshop fabrication |
| Stainless steel (inox) | Up to 6mm | Confirmed for the drawing and material | Tolerance by specification | Food-grade, medical, interior fittings |
| Aluminium | Up to 5mm | Confirmed for the drawing and material | Tolerance by specification | Signage, facade elements, light structures |
| Copper and brass | thickness confirmed for the alloy and surface | Confirmed for the drawing and material | Tolerance by specification | Decorative and jewellery-type parts |
How It Works
- 1
Send your file or dimensions
Send a DXF/DWG vector file, or just the dimensions and a sketch — a photo of a hand drawing is enough for an initial estimate.
- 2
Confirm the material
Tell us whether you're supplying the sheet or want us to source it — we'll advise on thickness and alloy for the intended use.
- 3
Timing by agreement
We calculate cutting length, material and quantity and return an exact price within one working day.
- 4
Cutting on the CNC fiber laser
Specify the required tolerance in the drawing; achievable tolerance and edge finishing are confirmed for the material, thickness and geometry.
- 5
Edge finishing
Deburring is available on request so the cut edge is smooth and safe to handle.
- 6
Pickup or delivery
Finished parts are ready for pickup at our Tbilisi workshop or shipped by courier anywhere in Georgia.
