Short answer
Map the reading journey before designing six panels. An inward flap needs another opening step, while a Z-fold opens in alternating directions; one layout cannot automatically serve both.
A trifold design needs a sequence from cover to opening, rather than six disconnected advertisements. Agree an inward fold or Z-fold first, then distribute content across the outside and inside artwork.

Give each panel one main subject. Shorten long copy early; check photographs crossing folds on a paper dummy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do three panels mean three folds?
No. A trifold has two folds that create three panels on each side of the sheet: six in total.
Should panel widths be equal?
Use the agreed fold template. An inward flap may need a different width; confirm the plan for a Z-fold too.
Where should a QR code or contact text go?
On a panel that explains the relevant action and is easy to see. Keep it clear of folds, trim edges and the hidden part of a display holder; test at final size.
What is approved before printing?
Check copy, panel sequence and the technical file separately. An on-screen review does not replace a production paper or colour sample; agree sample availability and terms beforehand.
