Outdoor Advertising

Short answer

Outdoor advertising covers banners, facade signs, shop window graphics, vehicle branding and 3D letters. Material choice follows two factors: weather exposure (sun, rain, wind) and viewing distance, which determines size and resolution.

Every form of outdoor advertising — from a banner to a vehicle — rests on the same two questions: how long must it last, and from what distance must it read. The first answer determines material and protection, the second determines size, letter height and resolution. This page treats both principles together and shows how they are calculated for each type of outdoor advertising, so the choice rests on arithmetic rather than intuition.

First question: how long

Surface protection depends on the selected print, film or panel system, exposure, cleaning and intended service life. Lamination can protect compatible printed films, but it is not automatically required for every permanent sign. Confirm the suitable finish for the chosen material.

  • Days — no protection needed
  • Months — lamination
  • Years — quality material + lamination
  • Most common mistake — mismatching lifespan and material

Second question: from what distance

Choose letter size from the actual viewing distance, typeface, contrast, lighting and viewing angle. Review the full message at the intended scale; there is no single distance-to-letter-size formula that works for every sign.

  • Assess size, contrast, typeface and viewing distance
  • Resolution falls with distance
  • Long distance — one message
  • Close range — several blocks possible

Which type for which purpose

A banner is the cheapest and most flexible — for temporary campaigns, events and seasonal offers. A facade sign is permanent and identifies the premises — it is an address rather than an advertisement. Shop window graphics sit in between: permanent elements (logo, opening hours) alongside seasonal ones (promotions). Vehicle branding is mobile and delivers the greatest reach per lari if the vehicle already drives daily. 3D letters cost the most but are the most noticeable on a facade — they cast shadows and read as dimensional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start planning outdoor advertising?
With two questions: how long must it last, and from what distance must it read. Those two answers set material, size and budget at once — and make the choice of technique practically self-evident.
Banner or sign?
A banner is for temporary campaigns and is cheap; a sign is permanent and identifies the premises. If the message will stay for more than a year, a banner stops being the economical choice — by then it has faded.
How much damage does sun do?
Direct sun gradually fades printed colour — common to every outdoor material. A north-facing exposure holds colour far longer than a south-facing one. Lamination slows the process considerably.
Who handles permits?
Permits for placing outdoor advertising are a matter of local regulation and are arranged by the business. Our side covers production and technical advice.
Is using several types at once better?
Often yes — a facade sign for identification, window graphics for the offer, an A-frame for the day's promotion. What matters is that they work as one visual system rather than contradicting each other.
Is installation included in the price?
Installation is agreed separately, since it depends on the site, height and access. A quote normally covers production; installation is priced separately.
